Megan McKenna’s Pregnancy Diet Sparks Outrage: Growing Concerns About Health Risks Emerge

Dua Lipa will headline Glastonbury on Friday night and promised “non-stop, relentless fun” ahead of the gig.

But she bizarrely puts her ability to create pop bangers like One Kiss, Levitating and Houdini down to her parents who showed her the way to party from an early age.

She said: “My parents, they’re very lively and they love a party and they’re just fun party people.

“I remember being a kid and them taking me everywhere with them.

And we would go on holiday and they would go to a bar and there’d be live music, and I would stay there until three o’clock in the morning

until I would fall asleep and they would still be up and hanging out and chatting.

“I was always surrounded by music and dancing, and people were having community and these joyous moments. As I was growing up, I was looking for my own version of that, of what they had. So clubbing and going out dancing was such a rite of passage almost. The second I got a little bit older, I was like, I want to go dancing. I want to be free.I want to feel the music and the sweatier I got on a night out.”

Her father and mother sought refuge in London in 1992 when there was political instability in Kosovo. Before that her father Dukagjin sang and played guitar in a rock band called Oda and her mother Anesa, studied law. Dua’s record label boss at Warner Music, Max Lousada was thrilled she got the headline slot and also that the set was being streamed globally. Ahead of the show he promised it would include “incredible surprises and some unexpected moments”.

The singer has dreamed of headlining Glastonbury and said she manifested her biggest show yet while working on her 2017 self-titled debut album. But even back then, she was determined to close out the first night, rather than the Saturday or Sunday, so she is free to party at the festival for the rest of the weekend.

She told the BBC: “It has to be Friday, because I want to party on the Saturday and Sunday!” Dua is hoping fans make some “unbelievable” Glastonbury memories during her set and over the weekend She added: “There’s something about the community and the energy at Glastonbury that is unlike anywhere else. There’s a real sense of togetherness and closeness, and common language. You make these unbelievable memories and you make friends, and you just have stories for the rest of your life.”
