Amanda Holden was left in tears after hearing how a woman’s husband had arranged for them to renew their wedding vows in an incredible surprise

Amanda Holden was moved to tears on Heart Radio after hearing a heartwarming tale of a husband’s surprise vow renewal for his wife. 

The 53 year old presenter, alongside co-host Jamie Theakston, decided to focus on uplifting stories, asking listeners for reasons to be “cheerful” rather than dwelling on the football.

The duo first heard from a lucky woman who, along with her friend, enjoyed an upgraded diamond VIP hospitality package at Kylie Minogue’s Hyde Park concert.

The pair celebrated their good fortune by getting Kylie-themed tattoos in Camden, following a personal serenade and rose-giving from the pop star herself.

However, it was listener Angie’s touching story that brought Amanda to tears. 

Angie shared how her husband had planned a unique “back to front” day, which culminated in a surprise vow renewal ceremony.

She recalled: “My husband told me we are having a back to front day on Saturday so I had to wear something that I would wear on Saturday night.”

Upon returning to their hometown and taking a stroll, Angie’s husband led her to their church, leaving her puzzled. She said: “We got back to our home town, we had a walk round and he dragged me to our church and I couldn’t figure out why. But he arranged for all our family to be there and we were renewing our vows. I was gobsmacked.”, reports the Mirror.

She added: “When we got there I turned round and said ‘we can’t go in there, there’s something going on, there’s a ceremony’. And he said ‘no that’s fine, they have a coffee morning let’s go in’.”

Entering the church, Angie recognised a familiar face before realising why everyone was gathered. She was then met with cheers and applause as she was greeted by a vicar.

She revealed: “The vicar was there and greeted me and he said ‘I’ve never done one without both parties, do you agree to it? So I said ‘well I better’.”

“It was amazing and we had about 50 people there and then they all came back to our house after. My kids had decorated all the house and the garden and it was just amazing.”

A visibly moved Amanda was touched by Angie’s tale, confessing that she had a “tear in her eye”. The previous evening, Amanda had been engrossed in watching England narrowly miss out on the Euro 2024 championship title.

The 53 year old Britain’s Got Talent judge demonstrated her patriotism by painting her face with the England flag, donning an England hat and jersey, and waving the flag while travelling in Spain. She posted a video of herself and her friends heading to a pub before pouring herself a pint of Guinness.

Spain clinched a 2-1 victory as the Three Lions stumbled at the final hurdle for the second consecutive European Championship final. Mikel Oyarzabal scored in the 86th minute after Cole Palmer levelled the score with 17 minutes left on the clock.
