Ben Affleck was warned by friend Matt Damon.

The Gone Girl star’s close pal reportedly issued a stark four-word warning before he tied the knot with wife Jennifer Lopez. 

His alleged comments have come to light amid rumours J.Lo and Ben’s marriage is on the rocks and that they’re heading for divorce.

Ben has been pictured without his wedding ring and the Jenny from the Block hitmaker looks less than impressed in recent pictures,

 further fuelling separation claims. Jennifer recently jetted off on a holiday on her own, leaving her husband behind.

Now it’s come to light that before Ben and Jennifer reunited for the first time, Matt told his Hollywood friend to “focus on his work”. 

An insider told DailyMail.com: “Matt tried to warn Ben when he got back together with J.Lo that this could happen. 

Matt was there to help Ben get it together after their first split and he felt like this would happen again.”

Ben is thought to hold his friend’s opinion in “high regard” after Matt’s 18-year-long marriage to wife Luciana Barroso. The source continued: “Matt has had a successful marriage for years and Ben has always been in awe of this. As things started falling apart, Matt told Ben that he supports whatever choice he makes but wants him to jump in and focus on his work. Ben spent so much time focusing on J.Lo’s projects just like he did the first time around. He told Ben, ‘What has she ever done for your career?’.”

Matt and Ben have been friends for years, famously starting up a production company together, Artists Equity, as well as writing the Oscar-winning screenplay for Good Will Hunting. “Matt is the only real guy friend Ben has. He would not let him get back on the bottle and has been on him to make sure of this,” the insider continued to the outlet.

It comes after Ben’s other friends fear he’s “drinking again”, according to reports. Sources close to the star, who’s been open and honest about his with alcoholism over the years, say he’s “full of demons” amid ongoing divorce rumours with his wife Jennifer Lopez. He has previously admitted to being “miserable” and “drinking too much”.

Now one friend claims he’s suffering “acute sadness” after reports his marriage is collapsing. He tied the knot with the Jenny from the Block hitmaker in 2022. His pals reportedly say he’s “at risk” of slipping off the wagon, or is “already back on the booze”.

“I hear that he is drinking. He is full of demons – a really troubled person,” one told DailyMail.com. While another told the outlet: “I have seen him looking glassy eyed and it is a real worry to everyone who cares about him.”
